Lời Khấn Nguyện Đầu Năm

Kính lạy chư vị tổ tiên tâm linh và huyết thống của chúng con.

Thở vào, chúng con ý thức là chư vị đang có mặt trong chúng con. Chư vị chưa bao giờ bỏ chúng con, và chúng con luôn luôn mang chư vị mà đi về tương lai. Chúng con biết rằng trong thế kỷ vừa qua cho đến ngày nay,  chúng con đã tạo ra chia rẽ, hận thù, cô đơn và tuyệt vọng. Chúng con đã để cho chủ nghĩa cá nhân lộng hành, tàn phá môi trường và gây thiệt hại cho tự thân chúng con. Chúng con đã thấy được rằng danh vọng, tiền tài, quyền lực và tư dục đã không đem lại hạnh phúc chân thực cho chúng con. Chúng con đã thấy được rằng chỉ có lòng từ bi mới đem lại một ý nghĩa cho sự sống và chúng con phải tập sống với nhau như một tăng thân thì con cháu chúng con mới có được một tương lai trên trái đất này.

Giờ phút mà chúng con tập họp lại đây trước bàn thờ chư vị, chúng con kính cẩn phát nguyện là bắt đầu hôm nay, chúng con nguyện sẽ tập sống thật hài hòa và an vui trong phạm vi gia đình và tăng thân của chúng con, như những con ong cùng sống chung trong một tổ ong hay những tế bào của cùng một cơ thể. Chúng con hứa là chúng con sẽ học hỏi thái độ cởi mở để có thể truyền thông được dễ dàng với những thành phần khác trong gia đình và trong tăng thân chúng con, luôn luôn tập hạnh lắng nghe và ái ngữ. Chúng con nguyện tập lắng nghe chư vị, cũng như chúng con sẽ tập lắng nghe anh em, bằng hữu và con cháu của chúng con, để chúng con có thể sống hài hòa và hạnh phúc với nhau. Chúng con nguyện thực tập nuôi dưỡng lòng từ bi, sống như thế nào để giảm thiểu khổ đau của muôn loài, bảo hộ được trái đất và chuyển ngược lại quá trình hâm nóng địa cầu. Chúng con húa là chúng con sẽ tập thấy hạnh phúc của nhân loài là hạnh phúc của chính mình. Chúng con biết đây là cách thức duy nhất để bảo đảm cho con cháu của chúng con, muôn loài và cho tự thân chúng con một tương lai trên trái đất.

Trong giờ phút linh thiêng khởi sự cho năm mới, chúng con trân trọng và thành kính hứa với chư vị là chúng con sẽ tập thở có chánh niệm, tập đi có chánh niệm, tập nói năng có chánh niệm, tập nhìn bằng con mắt của tăng thân và nghe bằng tai của tăng thân, tập sống đơn giản trở lại, tiêu thụ ít và tập thương theo tinh thần từ bi và không kỳ thị. Xin chư vị chứng giám lòng thành của chúng con và luôn luôn phù hộ cho chúng con và cho các cháu. Chúng con nguyện thực tập cho chư vị và cho cả con cháu của chúng con để ngày mai hòa bình, an lạc và thương yêu  có thể có mặt trở lại trên thế gian này. Chúng con kính dâng hương hoa, quả phẩm, lòng hiếu thảo của chúng con, và xin lạy xuống trước chư vị bốn lạy.

PRAYERS TO OUR ANCESTORS

Dear Ancestors, both spiritual and genetic:

As we breathe we are aware of your presence within us. You have never left us, and we will always carry you into the future. We know that in the past century and up until now we have made many mistakes. We have lived lives of separation, hatred, loneliness, suffering, and despair. We have allowed individualism to prevail, and it has caused a lot of hardship and a lot of damage to ourselves as well as to our environment. We have learned too that fame, wealth, power, and sensual pleasures cannot bring us true happiness. We have learned that only love and compassion can make our lives meaningful and that we can learn to live as a Sangha, as a community, thus giving our children and our grandchildren a chance for a healthy, positive future.

As we gather as brothers and sisters, we become aware of your continued presence inside of us and around us; and we would like to make a vow to you, to all our spiritual and blood ancestors, to our brothers and sisters and to all our children and their children who are already here within us. From now on we shall deepen our commitment to learn to live in harmony and peace, in the very heart of our family and our community, just as bees in the same beehive and cells in the same body. In 2008 we promise that we shall remain openhearted and thus be capable of communicating with the members of our family and our community. We promise to always listen deeply and to use peaceful and loving speech. We shall learn to listen to you, to understand both your suffering and your hope. We shall also listen to our brothers, our sisters, our friends, and our children so that we may live in peace and harmony with them. We shall keep our compassion alive by living in such a way that we reduce the suffering of living beings, preserve our planet and reverse the process of global warming. We promise to learn to see the happiness and well-being of the whole of humanity and our planet as our own happiness and well-being. We know that this is the only way to make a future for ourselves, our children and all beings possible.

In this solemn moment of the New Year, we make this promise to you, to our children and to all beings: We shall learn to breathe mindfully, learning to use the eyes and ears of the Sangha, to live simply and to love without discrimination. Please help us, protect us and protect our children. We promise to practice for you and for our continuation so that joy, peace and harmony will become possible again on Earth. Please accept our offerings of incense, flowers, fruit, tea, and our love and dedication.

Prière pour nos Ancêtres

Chers Ancêtres spirituels et génétiques,

En respirant, nous sommes conscients de votre présence en nous. Vous ne nous avez jamais quitté et nous vous porterons toujours dans le futur. Nous savons qu’au cours du siècle dernier et jusqu’à présent  nous avons commis beaucoup d’erreurs. Nous avons laissé les sentiments de séparation, de haine, de solitude, de souffrance et de désespoir envahir nos vies. Nous avons mis l’individualisme au premier plan l’autorisant à causer beaucoup de dommages et de difficultés pour nous-même et pour notre environnement. Nous avons aussi appris que poursuivre la renommée, la fortune, le pouvoir et le plaisir des sens ne peuvent nous apporter un bonheur véritable. Nous avons compris que notre vie n’a de sens que dans l’amour et la compassion et qu’en apprennant à vivre en tant que Sangha, en tant que communauté, nous offrons une chance à nos enfants et nos petits enfants une occasion de connaître un futur sain et positif.

Alors que nous nous réunissons entre frères et soeurs, nous sommes conscients de votre présence à l’intérieur de nous et autour de nous. Devant tous nos ancêtres spirituels et génétiques, devant nos frères et nos soeurs et devant tous nos enfants et leurs enfants qui sont déjà là en nous, nous voudrions faire le vœu d’approfondir notre engagement d’apprendre à vivre dans la paix et dans l’harmonie au sein même de notre famille et de notre communauté, telles les abeilles d’une même ruche ou les cellules d’un même corps.  Nous faisons la promesse en cette année 2008 de garder notre coeur ouvert, capable de communiquer avec les membres de notre famille et de notre communauté. Nous promettons de toujours écouter profondément et d’utiliser un language pacifique et aimant. Nous apprendrons aussi à vous écouter et à comprendre à la fois vos souffrances et vos espoirs. Nous écouterons nos frères, nos sœurs, nos amis et nos enfants afin de pouvoir vivre en paix et en harmonie avec eux.  Nous maintiendrons notre compassion éveillée en vivant de façon à réduire la souffrance des êtres vivants, préserver notre planète et inverser le processus du réchauffement planétaire. Nous promettons d’apprendre à voir le bonheur et le bien-être de toute l’humanité et de notre planète comme notre propre bonheur et notre propre bien-être. Nous savons que c’est le seul moyen d’assurer un futur pour nous-même, nos enfants et tous les êtres.

En ce moment solennel du nouvel an, nous promettons à nos ancêtres, nos enfants et à tous les êtres : D’apprendre à respirer en pleine conscience et à utiliser les yeux et les oreilles de la Sangha, de vivre simplement et d’aimer sans discrimination. S’il vous plait, aidez nous et protégez nos enfants. Nous promettons de pratiquer pour vous et pour les générations futures de façon à ce que la joie, la paix et l’harmonie soient possibles sur terre. Acceptez, s’il vous plait, nos offrandes d’encens, de fleurs, de fruits, de thé, notre amour et notre fidélité.
